Consume more fiber
Women aged 19 to 50 need 25 grams of fiber daily whereas men at the same age need 38 grams; Women older than 50 need 21 grams whereas men need 30 grams. In order to intake these amounts, you need to eat foods rich in fiber such as avocados, prunes, figs, okra, berries, coconut, Brussels sprouts, etc.
Drink more water
Often times, colon blockage is caused by dehydration. Therefore, drink up to 2 liters of water per day and even 3 if possible.
Do a cleanse with ACV
The enzymes in vinegar encourage probiotic growth and the acidic nature of ACV will ease the removal of toxins in the colon. You will need to mix 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar, 2 tbsp of raw honey, and 8 ounces of warm water and stir the mixture well and then drink it. It will regulate your bowel movement and thus, encourage the breaking down of the waste and its easier removal from the body.
Do a prune juice cleansing
This juice is rich in fiber so drink 8 ounces prior to breakfast and then 8 ounces after dinner. Reduce the daily amount as your bowel movements become more regular.
Drink lemon juice
Lemon is rich in vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant, and lemon has been proven to better the health of the colon, to improve the metabolic rate and to enhance the body’s ability to remove waste. Drink a glass of warm lemon water every morning before breakfast.
Eat flaxseed
Flaxseed contains omega-3 fatty acids that relax the colon and fiber which encourages the removal of the accumulated toxins. Add it to your daily diet, but make sure not to consume too much as it may cause diarrhea.
Drink ginger tea
Ginger will warm the body from the inside and speed up the slow digestion and bowel movements. In order to prepare ginger tea you need 2 tsp of grated ginger, ¼ tsp of turmeric, and 5 cups of spring water. Add the two first ingredients to the water and bring the mixture to boil. Once it boils, leave it to simmer for 10 minutes and then remove it from the stove. Add a bit of honey if you want a sweeter taste.
Add more probiotics
Probiotics are healthy bacteria which regulate bad bacteria causing the colon blockage. Although the body has enough probiotics, its amount may lower due to numerous reasons, one being antibiotics. The following foods are rich in probiotics and you should add them to your daily diet: kefir, yogurt, pickles, kombucha, dark chocolate, and sauerkraut.
